The transformation of Xing’an Plaza embodies our understanding of the diversity and inclusivity of urban space, as well as an ongoing effort to balance the public welfare nature of shared spaces with the need for commercial vitality.Indeed, a city, as a vast natural phenomenon, transcends human design capabilities. What designers can do is analyze present needs, acknowledge existing patterns of use, and anticipate future urban development—enabling the space to unfold across time, across communities, and throughout its physical layers with rich possibilities.By blurring the boundaries between public and commercial use through design, we aim to achieve a space where vibrancy and elegance highly integrate and coexist.
